Eve Online Races


Amarr, a militant theocratic kingdom, was the first of a race that could be played to rediscover a journey faster than light. In terms of physical proximity, the space occupied by this community is physically closest to the destroyed EVE gate. Armed with this new technology and the strength of their faith in their god, Amarr expanded their kingdom by conquering and enslaving several races, including the Minmatar race, which had just begun to colonize other planets. A few generations later, after the intense culture of shaking met with the Gallente Federation, and after a dangerous invasion attempt from the Jovian space, many Minmatars took the opportunity to revolt and succeeded in overthrowing their slaves, forming their own government. However, many of their populations remained enslaved by Amarr, and some, after adopting the Amarrian religion and siding with their masters during the revolution, were freed from slavery and incorporated into the Empire as commoners in the Ammatar Mandate. The free Republic of Minmatar, which took inspiration from the ideals and practices of the Gallente Federation, is now a strong military and economic force actively seeking the release of their brothers and all other slaves.

Gallew and Caldari homeworlds are located in the same star system. Homeworld Gallente was originally inhabited by descendants of the French colony Tau Ceti; Caldari Prime on the other hand was bought by a multinational company that began to change it. Terraforming Caldari Prime was incomplete at EVE. Gallente recovered to a high-functioning technological society several hundred years before Caldari, building the last and democratic New Eden republic in the form of the Gallente Federation. Initially Caldari organized a member race within the Federation, but the cultural animosity between the two men turned into a war in which Caldari was separated from the Federation to be discovered by their own Caldari State. The war lasted 93 years, with no country able to defeat the others. Planet Caldari Prime was initially defended by the Gallente Federation during the war, and did not become part of the new Caldari State. However, far more recently, Caldari's attack succeeded in recapturing their lost homeland, a fact deemed hated by Gallente, who saw the significant presence of Caldari's fleet on the planet as a mass hostage.

Both the Gallente Federation and Caldari State are economically and trade oriented countries. However, Gallente supports liberal economic policies, encourages individual entrepreneurship and social democracy, and maintains a progressive approach to social welfare, while the Caldari State is regulated as a form of static corporatocracy; The Caldari State itself is owned and operated on behalf of several megaconglomerates such as trusts. Gallente Federation's official policy on multiculturalism and promoting diversity attracts many immigrants to the Gallente space; one third of all Minahasa ethnic groups live there. Because Caldari did not share this enthusiasm for diversity with Gallente, the Caldari State at the time of its formation found itself in a relative population deficit compared to Gallente's enemies; Instead of encouraging massive immigration and diversity within the State, this population shortage was remedied by programs throughout the state of artificial reproduction, resulting in a generation called 'Test Tubes' who were raised by Caldari State officials to enlarge the pool of labor available for large companies who rules the country.

Jovians (races that cannot be played) are also descended from invaders. Unlike other Eve Online races, they maintain a high-functioning technological society after the collapse of the EVE wormhole and do not need to spend thousands of years recapitulating the development of ancient societies like the others, and while the other four major races are still grounded. Yovian's history looks at two main periods of empirical space. They evolved outward and eventually turned to genetic engineering to shape themselves into species that are better suited for space life and long-distance interstellar exploration. In addition to different backgrounds and histories, each race has a characteristic philosophy of starship design. Minmatar vessels tend to be very fast but fragile, and rely on high speed and maneuverability to avoid heavier weapons tracking systems, while they themselves use projectile weapons such as artillery or autocannons, more sophisticated relatives for current ammunition technology. The Amarr ship is very heavy, armored, and packs a powerful laser-based energy weaponry battery. The Gallente ship is sleek and designed to support the coating of armor; they specialize in deploying a fleet of drone robots while installing hybrid weapons that operate using superconducting magnets to accelerate masses toward high-speed targets (see Railgun). Finally, Caldari ships usually have bad armor and are not very fast but use strong energy shields, and use torpedo / missile launchers and hybrid weapons extensively, supporting involvement in extreme ranges. However, there are exceptions to this general rule in every race.
