DC Universe Online (DCUO) is a free multiplayer action game that is played en masse in the fictional world of DC Comics. Developed by Dimensional Ink Games and published jointly by Daybreak Game Company and WB Games, this game was released on January 11, 2011.

Gameplay
Players create new original characters who interact with iconic heroes and villains from DC Comics. Players choose their character faction (hero or villain), gender (male or female), body type (short, medium, tall, spy, athletic, large), personality (funny, flirty, strong, primal, serious ), modes of movement (flight, acrobatics, speed or skimming), weapons, and power (fire, ice, gadgets, mental, nature, magic, land, light, electricity, anger, quantum, sky, ammunition, atoms, and water) . Many types of hair, skin, and costumes are available, and up to 4 colors can be applied to the color scheme palette. Previously created templates, inspired by several main DC characters, are available to speed up the character creation process.

When the player's character is named, they are thrown into the world of DC Universe Online with first experience having to fight out of a spaceship. This tutorial teaches basic movements and abilities, fighting mechanisms, and uses strength and skill points. Finally, the player's character is made into an official member of the Justice League (hero) or The Society (villain), where they continue their mission to improve their level and skills in various contents. Daybreak Game Company works to make DC Universe Online more interactive than standard MMO games, while trying to maintain their key elements which include leveling systems, raid instances, endgame progress, and inventory. The world is basically a shared public space. Public spaces display dynamically generated content designed for hero players and villains to go ahead and fight together and fight many iconic DC Comics characters, move forward with stories, many of which are excluded from DC comic pages.
DC Universe Online has been actively updating through Game Updates (GU) and Hotfixes. In addition to bug fixes, some Game Updates involve Seasonal Events which provide special achievements, styles, basic items, overworld missions, and exclusive instances for the time period they run, usually a month. There are three events that tend to rotate throughout the year: Survival Mode, PvE Legends, and Instabilizer Fragment Instances. DC Universe Online offers downloadable content (DLC) called Episodes that expands the game universe with new missions that are more difficult to advance that provide new or continuation of existing stories; new style and costume equipment.
